Information is provided on the taxonomy, chorology and reproductive biology of 14 indigenous and two introduced species of Meliaceae in southern Africa, and on Ptaeroxylon (Ptaeroxylaceae). Two new taxa are described: Nymanieae F. White, tribus nov. and Turraea strevi F. White & B. T. Styles, sp. nov. Nurmonia (Harms) F. White, comb, et stat. nov.. a new section of Turraea L. is created. The account complements the treatments of these families in the Flora of southern Africa.
