Abstract

The taxonomy and distribution of two species of the subgenus  Disticha of  Paspalum, as re­presented in South Africa, are presented. Two distinct, closely related species are recognized, namelyPaspalum paspatodes (Michx.) Scribn. (previously known as  P. distichum L., the name being rejected as a no men confusum), and  P. vaginatum Swartz.
