Six species of fungi, recorded for the first time in South Africa, are described. The species are Gelasinospora cerealis Dowding from roots of Eucalyptus saligna; Spegazzinia tessarthra (B. & C.) Saccardo from Zea mays; Melampsora larici-populina Klebahn from Populus deltoides; Saccobolus depauperatus (Berk. & Hr.) Phill. from horse dung; Humicola stellata Bunce from grass hay and Chaetomium cochliodes Palliser from garden soil.
