The 23 species of Scleria (Sclerieae, Caricoidcae, Cyperaceae) in southern Africa are revised. Two subgenera are recognized, Hypoporum with one section, Hypoporum, and Scleria with three sections. Scleria, Acriulus and Schizolepis. The tribes Sclerieae and Bisboeckelereae are distinguished.
